NZHELELE – In another senseless attack on an innocent victim, a 39-year-old woman was raped and stabbed to death near a liquor store in the vicinity of Sendedza ground last Friday night.
Inspector Ndidzulafhi Masiagwala stated that the deceased, Mrs Rosinah Davhana came from the liquor store on her way home, together with two of her friends when three unknown men confronted them. The incident occurred at about 03:00 in the early hours of the morning. The suspects approached the women, and without warning began to assault them. Fortunately Rosinah's two friends managed to escape death, but both of them suffered serious injuries. One of them is still in a critical condition in the Siloam hospital.
Mrs Davhana's attackers apparently grabbed her from behind and then repeatedly raped and assaulted her. After the alleged rape, she was stabbed to death with a piece of broken glass that had been obtained from a bottle. Police found what they believe to be one of the suspect's underwear, next to Rosinah's body. Rosinah, who was a mother of six (6) was a resident of Dzanani Musanda, and now leaves behind a grieving family.
"She leaves her children in sorrow, but the police are still investigating this horrific attack," said Inspector Masiagwala of the South African Police Services.
Many cases of assault have been reported at the same liquor store previously. As recently as only three months ago, three culpable homicide cases were also reported near to the liquor store.
