New sport facility for Chavani School

The pupils of Chavani, as well as members of the community, were over the moon during the recent official opening of a sports centre at Chavani Primary School.

The construction of the facilities was sponsored by the National Lottery with an amount of R180 000 and is catering for basketball,  volleyball and netball.

Thanking the National Lottery for their donation, the principal of Chavani Primary, Ms Elizabeth Hlengane, expressed the appreciation of the school. “The donation will enable us to unearth hidden sporting talents. Our pupils will be able to compete with pride against other schools,” she added.

The chairperson of the lottery board, Prof Alfred Nevhutanda, said they were happy to sponsor new sports facilities to the dedicated and passionate pupils of Chavani. According to him, the lottery supports sports and community development projects.

Chief Lesley Mukhari said he was over the moon about the commitment the lottery had made to their community. "We salute you, and your good helping hand will always be remembered by us," said Mukhari. He appealed to people to use the facility properly.

Cllr Richardt Thandavhathu, councillor for sport at the Makhado Municipality, said he saluted the Lottery Board for intervening in community projects.
