There were smiles all around when a poverty-stricken family of three recently received a huge house from Phala Phala FM, in collaboration with Chancellor House Holdings.
The children of the Ramugondo family had been living in a dilapidated house since their parents passed away in 2007.
The ribbon was cut by King Toni Mphephu Ramabulana, SABC Foundation CEO Ms Iris Cupido and Mayor David Mutavhatsindi of the Makhado Municipality.
Bindulavhathu Furnishers donated three double beds, a proper sofa set for the living room and the disabled Mr Chillboy Rathando donated curtains.
Mr Tshifhiwa Ramugondo expressed delight and gratitude for what their the donators had done for them, saying it meant a lot to them. He told Limpopo Mirror that the former house had had no privacy for any of them. They had to to sleep on the cold floor. He expressed their happiness and gratitude to everyone who had contributed for their new home.
Ms Cupido said the SABC prided itself on being able to change the lives of the people for the better. She also thanked all the role players.

Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality.
