Vuwani SAPS host beauty pageant

VUWANI - Hundreds of people, including traditional leaders, councilors, parents and youths from different areas in the Vuwani region, attended a beauty pageant which was held at the Vuwani Univen Centre a fortnight ago.

The Vuwani SAPS, in partnership with Mvelaphanda Community Skills Development Training Trust (MCSDTT), hosted the beauty pageant as a part of encouraging the youth to be involved in positive passtimes and to concentrate on their studies. The beauty contest focussed on learners between the ages of 16 and 24. The youths also participated in the Youth against Crime Movement.

Miss Vuwani 2004 is Bongani Makhubela (19), the first princess is Angela Tahulela (18), and the second princess is Aluwani Makhuvha (16). The king is Khangwelo Nematandani (18), the first prince is Khuliso Muthambi (20) and second prince is Divhani Rambau (20).

The Vuwani SAPS spokesperson, Insp Mangalani Ramulifho, said that the SAPS had realized that to reduce crime and encourage the youth in education, there was a need to offer prizes in different activities.

The managing director of MCSDTT, Mrs Ester Mushaathama, said that she donated bedroom suites, pillowcases, study tables and a free training course to all who participated in the beauty contest.
