Tshilwavhusiku Razwimisani Special School was crowned the champion of the Bruzar Cricket Tournament at Ravele last Friday.
An amount of R14 500 was made available by the Bruzar Group to sponsor the activities of the day.
During the event, the councillor for sports at the Makhado Municipality, Cllr Richardt Thandavhathu, said that the government realised the problems and challenges facing people living with intellectual disabilities. He said that children with disabilities must no longer be hidden, but they must be given the opportunity to develop their potential.
Mr Tshifhiwa Madula, the manager of Bruzar, said that he was impressed by the manner in which the competition was run. He indicated that they would continue to sponsor the competition in the coming years. The sponsorship is in appreciation for the unwavering support which they are getting from the local communities, he said.
Tshilwavhusiku Razwimisani School was crowned as the champions for special schools and the team received R2 500 and a floating trophy. The runners-up, Phatlaphadima Special School, collected R1 500 and Grace of Love Special School received R500.
Sinthumule High won the division for mainstream schools, Swobani finished second and Kutama third. They received similar prizes as the division for special schools.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
