Olga Siphei is back with new gospel album

After a silence of eight years, Olga Siphei is back with her second album, Mudzimuwa Madembe.

She said her debut album, Zwonaka Music, was part of her lifestyle of praising God. She started her musical career when she was only 12 years old and she was a member of the congregation of Pentecostal Holiness Church in Magau.

She grew up listening to famous musicians lsuch as Rebecca Malope and Joyous Celebration and she said she drew inspiration from them. “Recording the new album was not easy,” said Olga. Despite having plenty of songs available, she had to fund the project herself. In order to enhance her music skills, she took piano lessons. “Rapson Rambuwani is my role model, and I fell in love with gospel music because of Rapson’s encouragement,” she added. She said that although the album was self-marketed, many copies had already been sold since its release and had been receiving a lot of airplay from different radio stations around the country.

According to music critics, she is gaining great popularity among gospel music lovers because of her unique style, which consists of heavy bass sounds. She sings about personal experiences, “and what I see happening in my vicinity”.

The new album consists of eight gospel songs, with the favourites being Mbiluyanga, Vhuhwavho and the title track, Mudzimuwa Madembe.

Kaizer Nengovhela

Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
