Court date for “Hand Case” finally set

A trial date for Makhado (Louis Trichardt)'s infamous “hand case” has at long last been set.

Freddy Azwitamisi Tshikhudo (38), who stands accused of the murder of Rumbidzai Manyere (36), appeared in the Louis Trichardt District Court again on Friday (20th). He is facing two counts of rape and single counts of murder, housebreaking and robbery.

Tshikhudo was accused of raping two victims, after he was arrested for Manyere’s murder in April last year. He allegedly tried to rob the Elti Café in Eltivillas with a severed human arm. Following his arrest, Tshikhudo let the police to the place where Manyere’s body was found. Her right arm, both eyes and her private parts had been removed.

The newspaper was able to determine that the police have finalized their case. The State’s list of witnesses, reportedly, consists of more than 50 people. A date has been set for the week of 26 January to 2 February next year, when the High Court will convene here in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court for the trial. Until then, Tshikhudo will remain in custody.
