Local lady creates unique flower pots

Martha Raphalalani is an artist in her own right, and she is successfully cementing her career in stunning fashion as she displays her products along the R522 Nzhelele road at Tshavhalovhedzi village.

She has always been a businesswoman who tried stocking and selling various household wares, and just some years ago she started making cleaning materials that she then sold to the public.

Now she has just started making flowerpots that are no ordinary items but are eye-catching articles of genuine art.

“There was a time when my household cleaning products business was not that steady as we know that businesses sometimes go through that phase, but then it dawned on me that I had to do something else to keep my business running,” she said.

Raphalalani believes in innovation, so she started making flowerpots that were unique to the area. “It was just some two months ago, and today I am excelling in decorative and stylish flowerpots,” she said.

She designs the flowerpots in her own artistic style but then lets a customer select a colour combination of their liking. The flowerpots can be used both indoors and outdoors, for both artificial flowers and water-reliant flowers or plants.

“I am enjoying what I am doing, and I am always flooded by orders even from people from other parts of the province,” she said. “God has given each of us something to put bread on the table, we just need to identify it and stick with it, or else we will suffer hunger.”

Raphalalani's story is quite inspirational in that she motivates other ladies and encourages them to try their hand at businesses of their choice instead of just staying idle at home.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province.
