DJ Blvck Zee rises to any occasion

Singo Rolivhuwa, known as DJ Blvck Zee, is one of SA's most successful young DJs. He spends most of his time at musical gigs as he is in great demand, both regionally and provincially.

The young man carved a niche for himself in the music industry as a Khoroni Hotel and popular music deejay, starting from way back in 2017. DJ Blvck Zee says he became a DJ because he always had a passion for spinning discs, though this was sometimes difficult because he comes from a rural area.

“While growing up, I'd spend all my time listening to Phalaphala FM and this was where I developed a taste for the music I play today,” he says. In 2018, after matriculating, he registered for a degree in international relations at Univen. He believes that music in this country is heading in a new direction and is delighted about this.

He says he aims to reach the top in the music industry through his knowledge and talent. “I have to utilize my skills and learn more from experts as I work my way up towards my ultimate goal of producing my own original music and remixes.”

During his first days he had to work hard and prove that he could fit into the world of music and deejaying. “Any young man who wants to see himself as a deejay must be passionate about the field, just like a duck taking to water.”

DJ Blvck Zee says he is ever grateful for the support he continues to get from family and friends. “I get my mixes to be played on national, community and commercial radio stations.”

Asked about what makes him rise to the occasion, he replies: “I am very creative, and this makes it easy for me to mix all types of music. I scan the situation and quickly apply the music genres to fit the right occasions for all my fans. Most of the time, I focus my energy on Afro Deep House, Tribal House and a bit of Electro House.”

DJ Blvck Zee’s journey towards success has been an eventful one, with loads of experience being gained by mingling with more experienced artists. He also organises gigs and events in his local community to empower young artists who want to promote their music talent.
