Music means life to me

The singing talent of Thabelo “Thabielly” Rabinda, a resident from Tshikota outside Louis Trichardt, was first discovered in church.

Thabielly made headlines and gained popularity soon after the release of her first single track, titled Give me this love, which features LVB and Gingerman. She is currently working on a full-length album.

“Music to me means life. I can’t imagine living any other good life outside the confines of music,” she said. “Music gives us a reason to get up and dance. When good music plays, we forget about all other problems and look at life in a different way.”

Rabinda holds the view that if songs are infused with meaningful, positive lyrics, music can change society. “If a distressed person listens to your music and after a while feels composed, you know your music has made a difference,” she said.

“I can sing Hip-pop, RnB, commercial Gqom and Amapiano,” she said. “I like to listen to good music and sing along. I enjoy other artists’ music very much, and I think it is a quality that makes me a good singer.”

She was mentored by Gingerman and looks up to the likes of Zandazakuza for inspiration. “Zandazakuza inspires me in a deep sense,” she said. “I feel her music reigns in my soul. Another name worth mentioning is Makhadzi, ‘The Queen of Venda’, who makes me believe that nothing can surpass hard work and dedication. I'm ready to go the long way to get to where I want to be.”

Thabielly can be followed on Facebook. She can also be reached on Tel 082 385 0861.
