Mickeyblack's EP is a tribute to mother figures across the world

Local R&B singer Phathutshedzo “Mickeyblack” Munyadziwa (20) has just released her first EP, called 10-07-2021. The EP is a musical tribute to her beloved late mother, and mother figures everywhere for their dedication, love and care for their children.

10-07-2021 is the date on which Mickeyblack lost her mother, Vho-Virginia Mauba – the inspiration behind the EP which comprises three tracks, namely This is for you (ft LyeoOn), Too young and Grateful. “She was not only my mother, but also my friend, sister and confidante. I wanted to pay tribute to her through music, so I recorded the song Grateful to tell her how much I appreciate the love and care she gave me while she was still alive.”

With her unique sound and upbeat rhythms, the singer had found her voice some years ago. She joined the choir at Liivha Combined School, where she was given the opportunity to lead in some of the songs. She was also a member of the Calvary Christian Church’s youth choir, and at the Fountain of Bethesda Missionary Church at Ha-Manavhela.

Mickeyblack’s EP is available at online digital stores. Follow her on Instagram (@Mickeyblack) and Facebook (Mickeyblack official).
