Our own Roshini Pakkiree from Louis Trichardt has done it again! The August-September edition of I am Warrior magazine proudly showcases her on the front cover.
If there is one person who manages to inspire others, it is Roshini. Readers of the Zoutpansberger will recall that she was one of the 10 finalists in the Mrs South Africa pageant last year. She is also the proud author of three books that she wrote following the sudden passing of her and her husband Mark’s only son, Sanjit, who was just 16 years old.
Roshini is always such an inspiration. She motivates and looks forward – not backwards. Readers will remember that the Pakkirees founded the “Sanjit Train of Hope Foundation” in memory of their beloved son. This foundation offers hope to those in need by providing financial relief to children.
This is what I Am Warrior noticed and decided to arrange a photoshoot with Roshini.
“The idea was for me to wear one of the available ‘flying dresses’. I chose red. I was to pose with a black horse on the beach in Durban. On the day, the black horse was unavailable, and a white horse was brought in instead. I was terrified, as I had never sat on a horse before,” said Roshini.
The white horse was also supposed to be a bit wilder than the planned black one. “But I knew I was gifted with a guardian angel (my son), and I am also passionate about life. The colours white (the horse) and my red dress were quite symbolic. Everything went well – the horse was extremely calm. Everything felt out of the ordinary. I literally rode on its back into the sunset,” Roshini added.
I Am Warrior is an initiative aimed at empowering women from all walks of life. It provides a platform for ordinary women to share their life stories, trials, and celebrations. Roshini adds: “God promises healing, not a pain-free life. Don’t try to replace what you have lost. Look towards new things. For me, life did not end.”
