The Dolphins managed to hold Mukula Young Santos to a thrilling 1-1 draw in their SAB League match played at the Matatshe grounds on Sunday afternoon.

Santos were the superiors when it came to possession of the ball in the first 20 minutes. Their strikers, however, let them down by shooting aimlessly. The home side started to demonstrate their rough skills as one of their many ways to frustrate the opponents.

The referee, Mr Mphireni Mphephu, warned one of them, Livhuwani Radzivhoni, with a card. He tackled Nndateni Netshitadi from behind in the 9th minute.

Santos were the first to blow the trumpet. Japhta Mulaudzi unleashed from the edge of the penalty box after a neat pass from Freedom Makhuvha. In the 34th minute, the home side found the equalizer. Makhado Radzivhoni hooked the ball in after a scramble within Santos’ danger area.

The Dolphins replaced Mushe Nemathithi and their goal scorer, Makhado Radzivhoni, with Mueletshedzi Nevhurwa and Ishmael Nemaranzhe respectively. Young Santos responded by introducing Phathutshedzo Takalani and Lutendo Mahandana for Japhta Mulaedzi and Moses Nenungwi.

The Dolphins were reduced to ten men in the 64th minute. Livhuwani Radzivhoni was given his marching orders for a second bookable infringement. The Dolphins managed to maintain the score line to the bitter end despite all the odds.
