Another victory for Morning Stars

Morning Stars Lacoste deposited more points into their league account after their 2-0 victory over Real Mighty Girls in their Sasol Women’s League match at the Guvhukuvhu grounds on Saturday.

Lacoste deserved to win, as the visitors from Giyani showed no appetite for goals in the first half.

Tshisevhe Lidzebe, the Lacoste centre forward, was unlucky on several occasions in the first 20 minutes of the game. In the first instance, she received a neat pass from Takalani Makhavhu at the edge of the box and hesitated for too long to unleash and ultimately lost possession.

Kedibone Mnisi committed a similar mistake shortly thereafter. She unleashed aimlessly from the 20-meter area. The ball went far wide.

Mighty Girls threatened to score in the 18th minute. Their overlapping midfielder, Vutivi Sithole, forced her way through the defence of Lacoste and lost possession on the brink of unleashing from inside the box.

The home side took the lead in the 28th minute. A defender of Mighty Girls, Sesana Maluleke, handled the ball within the box and the referee, Mr Olani Kwinda, was quick to award a penalty to Lacoste. Tebogo Mnisi made no mistake from the white spot.

Mighty Girls effected the first change to their starting 11 in the 39th minute. They replaced Layza Chuma with Conny Mabunda. Lacoste responded by introducing Shumani Tshikosi for Onezwa Pinana early in the last half. Lacoste increased the lead in the 78th minute. Mulalo Mufanadzo beat the keeper with a ground cutter following scramble within the box.
