Narrow victory for Mikhado over TRON

Mikhado FC continued to pave their way to the National First Division by beating Tshakhuma RO Nandilani (TRON) 1-0 in their ABC Motsepe League match at the Tshisahulu grounds on Saturday.

The game was one of two halves as Mikhado were dictating terms in the middle of the park throughout the first half, with TRON in the driver’s seat in the last half.

The visitors from the Nzhelele Valley squandered two clear scoring chances within the first 20 minutes of the game. Their bulldozer striker, Vutoni Ngomana, forced his way through the defence of TRON in the eighth minute but shot aimlessly from within the box.

Moments later, David Nkambule received a neat pass from Nicolas Sitsei and unleashed a powerful volley from the edge of the box. The ball missed the target with inches.

A defender of TRON, Fhulufhelo Nemusumani, was the first player to go into the referee’s book. He tackled Khuthadzo Tshikulumela from behind and Referee Rango Komane was lenient enough not to let him see red.

TRON were forced to effect change to their starting line-up in the 25th minute. Masala Muedi sustained a knee injury and was replaced by Thembuluwo Rambau. The goal that earned Mikhado three significant points came in the 34th minute. They were awarded a corner from which their overlapping defender, Bornwise Molobo, headed home.

Mikhado introduced Rivoningo Chauke and Ndamulelo Mugadi and sacrificed David Nkambule and Lucky Mkhari eight minutes into the last half.  Rivoningo Chauke was booked for a late tackle on Rendani Mukomafhedzi four minutes after his introduction. Bongani Mtshali, the keeper of Mikhado, was also reprimanded with a card for dangerous play.

TRON took the game to the visitors in the last 20 minutes of the game, but it was not their day.
