TTM’s supporters boo players and coach

The caretaker coach of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), Mr Lucky “Mchichwa” Nelukau, is a worried man. His team lost their second home match in a row.

TTM lost 3-4 to Uthongathi FC in their Nedbank Cup match at the Thohoyandou Stadium two weeks ago. TTM went on to disappoint the team’s supporters by losing another home match last Sunday. This time around they lost 0-2 to Free State Stars.

The result of their match against Free Stars was a bitter pill to swallow for Nelukau. During an interview with him shortly after the final whistle, he was spitting fire. He revealed that his team had played admirable football throughout the first half and failed to convert their chances.

Free State Stars scored their opening goal via Gift Sakuwana against the run of play towards the end of the first half. Nelukau stated that that had not worried him that much as he told himself that their time would come. He stated that things turned inside out after they effected three changes to their starting line-up early in the last half.

TTM replaced Ernot Dzaga, Wonderboy Makhubo and Nhlanhla Mgaga with Lucios Ndou, Ivan Mokoena and Tommy Mandlazi respectively. Vhadau Vha Damani’s performance dropped dramatically after the replacements and Nelukau pointed out that the three substitutes had not done what he had instructed them to do before they got into the field of play. He further stated that he would have replaced them if it were not for the fact that they had already finished their substitution chances at that stage.

One of the substitutes, Lucios Ndou, was given his marching orders for dangerous play within 10 minutes after he was introduced. That gave the Stars the chance to score their second goal through Mlondie Mbanjwa in the 75th minute.

TTM’s angry supporters started to boo the players and the caretaker coach after the Stars’ second goal. Most of the supporters left the stadium before the end of the game. TTM dropped from the third to the fifth spot on the log standings, following the defeat. They have 19 points, nine behind the pace setters, Uthongathi FC.
