Opportunity to rub shoulders with country’s top anglers

Avid anglers will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the country’s top professional anglers during the grand opening of the Legends Pro Angling Shop in Louis Trichardt this Friday and Saturday, 25 and 26 September.

These top anglers include big names such as Schalk van Breda of Super Cast, the current world bank angler champion and Protea angler Barend Breedt from the Legends Legacy Series, and another Protea angler, Gilbert Foxcroft from KingFisher/Daiwa. Schalk and Gilbert will be in the shop on Friday and Barend on Saturday.

The Legends Pro Angling Shop is the brainchild of co-owners Cobus van der Goot and Theuns Botha. Cobus explained that they realised that a definite need for a specialist angling shop existed in the region, not only for Louis Trichardt anglers, but also anglers from Musina, Tzaneen and Polokwane. They then spoke to Theuns’s brother-in-law, Christiaan de Beer, who had opened the Legends Pro Angling Shop in Sasolburg. “Christiaan then suggested that we open a similar store under their name as they were looking to expand,” said Cobus.

“What will make Legends Pro Angling Shop unique is that we will specialise in fishing gear only. It will not be like other shops that treat their fishing department merely as a smaller add-on to their business” said Cobus.

The Zoutpansberger paid a visit to the shop on Wednesday and encountered a beehive of activity to get all the shop fittings in and all the stock on the shelves.

And what an impressive list of stock it is, including top brand names such as Rapala, KingFisher, Okuma, Daiwa, Shimano, Sensation, Berkley, Zoom, Super Cast, AbuCarcia, Loomis, Razor and many, many more products ranging from bait, reels and rods to clothing. Although the shop will boast a vast range of carp fishing baits and equipment, people should not be fooled into thinking that the shop will only cater for carp anglers. It will also stock a very impressive bass-fishing section, as well as a large range of rods, reels, lures, and other must-have bass-fishing gear. The shop will also sport a section for sea fishing and tiger fishing, as well as a special corner for the ladies who enjoy fishing, with “designer” apparel to wear next to the water.

Anglers should definitely pay the shop on the corner of Rissik and President Street a visit this weekend, not only to meet Schalk, Barend and Gilbert, but also to find out more about Legends Pro Angling Shop’s vast range of fishing gear and accessories.
