Leopards are ready to steal Casric Star's sparkle

Sport  Date: 13 September 2024

Black Leopards have reason to believe they will beat Casric Stars when they meet in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Siyabuswa, but the stadium is unavailable on Saturday. Casric Stars and Lidoda Duvha agreed to swap the fixtures, and the Premier Soccer League approved the request on Monday.

A quick glance at the team’s performance in their first two league games shows that Black Leopards are primed to win.

The Thohoyandou side are yet to lose a league match this season. They played to a 1-1 draw with Highbury FC in their opening match at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Gqeberha and beat Leruma United 2-0 at Thohoyandou Stadium two weeks ago. Should they beat Stars on Saturday, Leopards are likely to move from third position to the top of the log.

Casric Stars have won one of their two games so far and lost 1-2 to Durban City. They are currently in eighth place on the log standings. Stars will need to double their efforts if they are serious about challenging Leopards' midfield, which is marshalled by Bonginkosi Makhanya, Donald Makgethwa, and Nkosi Mavundla.

Venda Football Club will host Durban City at the same venue on Sunday. The other weekend fixtures are Highbury FC vs Orbit College, Hungry Lions vs Baroka FC, Leruma United vs Upington City, Milford FC vs Cape Town Spurs, University of Pretoria vs JDR Stars, and Kruger United vs Pretoria Callies.
