Thomas Chauke to perform in Europe

A South African music legend, who has been thrilling crowds in South Africa for more than three decades, will soon perform in Europe.

Thomas Chauke (61), also known as Xinyori, is expected to perform during different events in France during September. During the recent 19th South African Music Awards event, Chauke received a lifetime achievement award. Two years ago, he also received an honorary doctorate in African languages for the role he played in the development of the Xitsonga language through music.

His latest album went double platinum in two days. “I was totally stunned when I was invited to perform outside South Africa", he said. His manager, Phazamisa Mathosi, confirmed the performances and added that there will also concerts in Britain and several European countries. “It will depend on availability, because we also want to sell our brand abroad,” said Mathosi.
