Entertainment Date: 07 November 2014
After working in the background for years with groups like Worship House, among others, Rendani Nemathaga (27) has come out smoking...
Jabbie, as he is popularly known in music circles, is one of the most celebrated young artists to have emerged from this region and has finally released his debut CD, Lupfumo-Pfumo.
The album boasts 10 powerful tracks and is at present selling very well. He hails from Ha-Makhuvha and has come a long way since his school days, when he used to sing tenor in the school choir and the Christ Mission Oriented Church Centre under Pastor Pandelani.
He later graduated into drama at Muhuyuwathomba at Tshitereke where he rubbed shoulders with the likes of Phathutshedzo Muthambi or Tshibulebule of I Khou Khidzhana fame and Hangwani Ramakuela or Mulalo of Muvhango fame.
In 2007, Jabbie joined one of the country’s best known gospel ensembles, Worship House, where he featured in Project 5 to 11.
“I have accumulated a lot of experience in the industry over a period of time. I had hoped that I would lead in one of Worship House's songs, but due to the competitive talent in the group, I could not get the chance. That was when I decided to record a solo album after getting help from my brother, Norman, who is also my manager,” he said.
"This album is testimony that God makes things out of nothing. Many did not believe that I could make it, but the album is making ripples in the industry,” he said.
He mentioned businessman David Thidiela, Bishop Isaac Dagada, his brother Norman and other artists who made the project a success. The album is available at shops around Thohoyandou, Music Everywhere in Venda Plaza or from the artist himself.
