A star at local clubs, Godfrey “King Mlatiro” Ndou, has never stopped shining, even when he sometimes takes a while before releasing a new album.

His first album, recorded in 2011, was ambitiously titled It's My Time. He told Limpopo Mirror that he has just entered 2015 with a full-length album which will hit music stores soon. His new project is titled Dumbumadzikule, and comprises 20 tracks.

“Most of the work on Dumbumadzikule is autobiographical,” he said. “I have gone through a lot of troubles and trials since the official release of my first album. Most songs are based on true experiences where people close to me tried to destroy me because of who I am. I came out of the storm as a well-grounded man of stable character and wrote the song Vivho(jealousy).”

He said that his upcoming album includes songs such as Dunuza, Vivho, With the Best, U wa ndeme, Ro Takala, Benu, and Khunda vhalai. “I have found a new home at Evolution Records,” he said. “My sounds come from the Bolobedu area because I have been experimenting with a new style and tunes only found in that part of the province.”

He named DJ Fortune and Papa Ivan as his producers. “Without these two men, I would not have experienced growth as a singer,” he said.

King Mlatiro started his musical journey as one of the "underground artists" in the Sinthumule and Kutama region and only started to be more active in 2009 by performing at birthday parties, wedding ceremonies and sometimes in taverns.

Today he is a favourite in clubs, where he performs for a fee.

King Mlatiro resides at Madombidzha village, and he remains the darling of many people in the district, the province and Gauteng. This is because he still sings about issues that concern the youth. He has won hundreds of music lovers with his style, which boasts elements of vibey techno that forces any listener to the dance stage.
