Reggae music lovers had the opportunity during the festive season to enjoy live performances of The Next Generation artists when they were in action at Mutale Town Hall.
The band, which comprise of Judah, Jah Soldiers, Lufuno Munzhelele, Arinao Nemutandani, Mulalo Mulaudzi, Mashudu Pandelani, Thanzi, and Emmanuel Rammbuda, gave electrifying performances and left all fans delighted. The performances marked the band’s national tour which started at Mutale on 26 December 2015, and will continue through this year in other provinces.
The spokesperson for The Next Generation Band, Lufuno Munzhelele, said that they were excited by the massive turn-up of fans who appreciated their music in Mutale. “We can confidently say that reggae music is here to stay,” he said. “People had shown great interest in live music performances and we had promised them to come back again some time this year.”
The Next Generation Band was formed around 2011 by men who shared common interests – they would get together on Saturdays and Sundays for a meal, while they played music instruments for fun. Soon they realised that they could play songs by major reggae artists and also compose new songs.
“That’s when an idea to start a formal band creeped in our minds,” Munzhelele said.
Munzhelele said that the band will be recording a full-length album some time this year, “but we are not sure about the release date. We will also see how things unfold as time goes on,” he said. “In the meantime, let’s enjoy live performances as we tour some provinces. We will keep all people updated.”
