The Apostolic Faith Mission Church at Tshakhuma was filled to capacity during the first drama and music festival held a fortnight ago.
According to the founder and organise, Tshidino Ndou, the event was a huge success as many people attended to witness and participate in the events of the day. “I enjoy giving back to the community and I am excited about the support by the community of Tshakhuma,” Tshidino said.
The main theme of the festival was Vhumatshelo hanga vhu zwandani zwanga (My future is in my hands). Various community drama groups from the district attended and showcased their talents during the event. Takalani Ndou, also known as Funyufunyu, and Muvhulawa Nethavhakone were the talk of the day with their dramatic performances. The Gondeni Drama Group, led by Oritonda Randima and Vhulenda Neluonde, also stole the show.
“This amazing talent cannot be noticed if no one organizes events such as this one,” Tshidino said. He said the event was funded by his two companies, Vhadino Entertainment and Dzhatsha Films.
“I would like to appeal to local business owners to assist in taking the event to the next level,” he said. Tshidino added that the purpose of the festival was to revive theatre in the area and also to unearth hidden talent. About 10 Vhembe-based drama groups left the audience drooling for more.
A long-serving Dzhatsha Community Theatre actor and a qualified bricklayer, Takalani Ndou, said working with Tshidino was enjoyable. Top musicians such as Khakhathi and Friends, Humbulani Ramagwedzha, Jininka, Zwido, Black Jahman, Rasfinger, Tshidino Ndou, Sikheli Junior, Mavutha, Bashy Jah Bless, Ras Mulweli, Olivia, Ndivho, MC-A, Gavinator, Kingsley & Vuluvulu Band, Lady TH, Shana Mamba, Jahman Chibukute, DJ Roneh and Chester left the audience asking for more.
Motivational speakers such as Mukondeleli Joel Mulaudzi, Thivhulawi Mabada and Godfrey Musubi were guests at the even and gave motivational talks to the youth.
Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper. He is a prolific writer who published his first book, titled A Traumatic Revenge in 2011. It focusses on life on the street and how to survive amidst poverty. His second book titled The Violent Gestures of Life was published in 2014.
