Given Madzunya is one of the local music artists whose music is growing with time. This resident of Mukula village in the Satane area has made a comeback with a second album.

The new album, Duvha na tshifhinga, was released towards the end of last month. It was recorded at the MB Recording Studios in Thohoyandou three months ago. It comprises six reggae songs and several reggae lovers have said that it has the potential to take Madzunya’s name to a new level in the music industry.  Madzunya attributed the success of the new release to hot songs such as Lushaka nthuseni, Lufuno lwa mbambe and the title track, Duvha na tshifhinga.

According to him, his love of music was ignited when he was still a Sunday school child at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in the early nineties. A friend, Thomas Ramaremisa, introduced him to a reggae music group, The Red Connection, in 2006. He assisted the group to record their only album two years later.

The group disbanded shortly after releasing its only album and Madzunya went solo. His debut album, Ndila ndi mbili, was released in June 2014. Ndila ndi mbili comprised six songs with Khotsi nthuse, Protect me Lord and Yesu O lwelaho vhathu as the hits.  Madzunya revealed that the album performed poorly on the market because of poor marketing.
