CD launch and music festival at Tshiawelo

Zimunga Trading will host the BLF CD Launch and music festival at Tshiawelo next to Managalani tomorrow (Saturday). Several well-known Vhembe artists will participate in the event.

According to the chairperson of Zimunga Trading, Mr Anel Mudau, the festival is aimed to provide a development platform for the growing number of local artists who usually leave the region to go to the cities to seek opportunities. “We see the event as contributing to social cohesion and nation building, while entrenching our African identity through musical performances,” he added.

According to him, the main aim of the event is not to make a profit, but to market “our Vhembe region and show our talent.”  

With an anticipated turnout of more than 10 000 people, it is expected that the launch and festival will bring out the best in the artists. “We came a long way and all the years we have seen tremendous improvement in our music. We have not diverted from our traditional style, but our choreography has improved and we believe those who attend will not be disappointed," he added

According to him, some of the artists who will perform during the event include Colbert Mukwevho, Zozo & Sengere Superbeat, Ramzeey, Humbulani Ramagwedzha, Tshigomboza, Prifix, Dupa Masuvhelele and many more.

The admission fee will be R100 per person, but a VIP-ticket will cost R800. The gates will open at 16:00 on Saturday and will close at 06:00 on Sunday morning.

Kaizer Nengovhela

Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
