Young Louis Trichardt girl a rising music star

The 21-year-old Mosa Ralephata possesses an undeniable musical talent that has so far earned her respect in the Makhado area and other parts of the country.

Mosa was recently based in Louis Trichardt for school and musical purposes, where she matriculated at the LTT Murunwa School of Excellence. She eventually released and launched her début gospel album at Bergwater Hotel in December last year. The album is entitled Psalm 51:10.

This young singer grew up in the rural area of Indermark, near Bochum. “I just want to thank my grandmother, Hilda Ralephata, who supported my music talent,” she said. “She even sponsored my album launch and encouraged me to pull up my socks. She has been raising me as her daughter.”

Mosa's album was produced by the multi-award winning gospel artist Rofhiwa Manyaga. Psalm 51:10 has so far sold hundreds of copies to the satisfaction of Musa, her producer and personal assistant. “We sold all those copies mainly on a person-to-person basis and not from music stores' shelves,” she said.

She said that the album was loaded with motivational praise and worship songs. “The album aims to encourage the youth not to look down upon their talents especially in the church and for the youth to stand up at a young age to follow their dreams,” she said. “I am keen to work even harder and become one of the great gospel artists.”

She said that there had been challenges on her side where people looked down on her because of her age. “The challenges have not in any way hindered me as an artist, but they made me want to work harder,” she said

“I am currently shooting the video for the current album. One never stops working hard. Song writing keeps me busy. And I have such a great and superb personal assistant, Thabelo Rashamuse.”

She has shared the stage with established gospel singers such as Takie Ndou, Matema Moremi and Rofhiwa Manyaga.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper. He is a prolific writer who published his first book, titled A Traumatic Revenge in 2011. It focusses on life on the street and how to survive amidst poverty. His second book titled The Violent Gestures of Life was published in 2014.
