After disappearing from music circles for about three years, a local gospel artist, Lawrence Mabasa, has made a comeback with a Christmas gift for his fans, in the form of a new album.

The album, Sekusele is Mabasa’s seventh album in his 14 years as a professional artist.

According to him, it became clear to everyone around him that he was a talented singer when he was still in Sunday school and a primary school pupil way back in 1993. After realising that he was mature enough to be able to stand on his own, Mabasa tried his luck by recording his debut album, Lead me to calvary, in 2003.

The album performed above Mabasa’s expectations and in 2007 the Malamulele-based singer went back to the studio and recorded his second album, Think of me. His third album, Sape isizwe was released in 2009 and it was followed by When peace like a river, recorded and released in 2011.

In May 2014 he went to the MB Recording Studio in Thohoyandou where his sixth album, Blessed assurance, was recorded and released towards the end of the year. His new release, Sekusele, was also recorded at the MB Recording Studio.

Just like all his previous albums, Sekusele will also be self-marketed and distributed. Sekusele consists of ten songs with the tracks Like I am going home, Loko a humelela, Lufuno lwawe and the title song, Sekesele promising to be instant hits with fans. Mabasa was accompanied by his sister, Tiyiselani, to record this album.

Mabasa said that he will be performing live at various ceremonies, including weddings, memorial services and unveiling of tombstones during the festive period in a bid to promote his album. For live performance bookings, he can be phoned on 078 419 7178 or 071 580 5388.
