The 26-year-old Denga Takalani, better known as Kingdmusic, has just released his single, Holy Spirit, which has already gained national acclaim in a short space of time.
The vibrant musician started singing at the age of 12 as a member of a Christian Kwaito crew named G-Squad. By the age of 14, he had started writing his own songs and also recorded his first R&B single, Always Loving You, with the help of his parents, who paid for the studio
“Holy Spirit came from a season of pain and when all seemed to be going wrong,” he said. “It is a prayer for God to break down walls that seem to hold us back from what God intends for us.”
He said that the song was inspired by the story in the Bible in Joshua 6:1-27, when God caused the walls of Jericho to collapse, giving victory to Joshua and his men.
Kingdmusic is well known for his singles, which include, among others, Always Loving You, Praise Him and Upside down (ft Takie Ndou). Upside down was nominated as Best Gospel Collaboration song at the 2017 Ingoma awards.
“While Holy Spirit is continuing to gain momentum in the industry, I am currently working on my studio album that is due for a release soon,” he said. “I am enjoying the limelight of being an artist – just last year, I released my first music video, featuring Takie Ndou, on YouTube, which had over 20 000 views in the first two weeks of its release.”
This young artist is also one of the worship leaders at the #Imagine Movement that gathers more than 15 000 youth members every year in South Africa over three nights. Among other things, he has also been part of the first Experience Conference in South Africa, which is a global worship conference that gathers and equips creative people and has given a platform to the likes of Martin Smith, Soweto Gospel Choir and We Will Worship band.
“I sang most of the songs on the new Hillsong album that was released in isiZulu on 10 June this year,” he said. Those interested in Kingdmusic's music can visit his website http://www.kingdmusic.co.za or his Facebook page.
