Diamond Voice on the move

Mangalani Mudau, also known as The Diamond Voice, is a young man who has made a name for himself in the community-radio fraternity.

He is currently working as a presenter at Nzhelele FM, a community radio station based in the Nzhelele valley.

He was born in Mashau Bodwe village and raised in Ha-Mandiwana in the Nzhelele area, where he developed a love for radio from a young age.

“I present R523 Morning Drive Monday to Friday on 06:00 to 09:00,” he said. “I am also a music compiler, who has a keen ear for good sounds. Good music will always interest you and make an instant impression on your listeners.”

He is a former officer in the South African National Defence Force, and he has had some stints in the Muslim Community Radio and at Mike's Kitchen, where he was a casuals supervisor.

“From then I joined Musina FM, where I honed my radio skills for several years,” he said. “I love radio, because it creates a platform for socialising for me where I get to interact to thousands of listeners,” he said.

His hobbies include, among others, playing soccer, reading newspapers and listening to music. He attended Mandiwana Primary School, Wisdom Combined School and Tshala Secondary School.

“I am also sending out a plea to youths to focus on education and refrain from criminal activities,” he said. “Whether we like it or not, education is the key to opening all closed doors.”
