Burning Doctor releases new CD

A well-known reggae artist, Calet Lisoga, better known as Burning Doctor, has just released a new CD, Thongo elekanya (I never thought).

The self-taught reggae artist hails from Tshino village in Vuwani area and developed a love for reggae music at an early age. He used to listen to some great reggae artists such as Joseph Hill and Toots and the Metals.

He said that reggae had been in his blood since he was a young boy. According to him, the new CD has nine tracks with the title track. "Through the song Thongo elekanya, I want my listeners to know that something in life can happen at any time." With the song Burning rock he said he was telling his listeners that even if a person was born in a rural village, he or she could reach the sky if they were determined enough.

He said that despite the fact that Tshino was a rural community, it produced many meaningful people such as the late Mr Pfuluwani Jonas Machaba, a radio announcer at Phalaphala FM, and many teachers and artists.

In 2013, he was named the best Tshivenda reggae artist of the year, winning a Tshivenda Music Award. He released his first album Nyimelo in 2004, followed by Tshikwasha Midi in 2005.

All songs on the album were composed by the Burning Doctor and recorded at Mb Records. For live performances and bookings, Burning Doctor can be called at 072 8922 923.
