Pontsho Monyetsware, or “Poni M” as she is also known, is a nurse from Ha-Madodonga Village who happens to be passionate about writing too. In 2022, she published a book titled “Diary of a Goddess.” She has now followed this up with a second book, called “She Chased the Moon and Forgot Her Crown.”

Pontsho’s latest novel narrates the story of an unmarried village girl named Denga and how she sees the world. It also gives a glimpse into the lives of other single women and each one’s different journey and life experiences.

Monyetsware believes that people should have other hobbies and interests outside of their full-time jobs. “We don’t have to focus only on our jobs. We can still follow our dreams, even if we are working from Monday to Friday. I work full time as a nurse, but I love to write in my spare time as it lifts my spirits.”

She says that, although many platforms to address issues exist, she has found that, for her, writing is the best platform to express her views. “After my first book was published, I was overwhelmed by the public to release another book. ‘She Chased the Moon and Forgot Her Crown’ has received a resounding welcome from people since it was published. It is a book I would recommend, especially to women. If they read it carefully, they will find the content to be very insightful, and it can help immensely in their day-to-day lives.”

Monyetsware says she still sometimes receives strange looks from people who think that for someone to sit and write stories is odd, but she does not let this discourage her. “People should go out there and make a mark in their lives, by any means. I'm always poking fun at people as a way of encouraging them to be better in life,” she says.
