Prominent Vhembe poet, songwriter and recording artist Mulalo Nenungwi is back with another compelling offering.

Known for his unique style and thought-provoking messages, the popular praise singer from Tshiṱavha Tsha Sambandou – better known as Mulalo the Poet – has released a powerful reggae single titled Peace in the World.

The single, produced by seasoned producer and studio owner Ravusto, was released in April and is already making waves on entertainment platforms. It has further cemented the artist’s reputation and broadened his appeal.

Peace in the World follows the success of his 2022 release Shango lo Dzhenwa Ngani, which earned him a nomination at the South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA) in 2023. Although he did not win, the recognition was a milestone in his career.

Peace in the World is a cry for peace in this world that is overwhelmed with hatred, where brother kills brother using all forms of sophisticated weaponry. My call [is] to the powers that be to silence the guns and save humankind,” he said.

According to Mulalo the Poet, ongoing conflicts in Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, Yemen, the DRC, Sudan and Libya, among others, are a major source of concern and must be brought to an end.

“I did the song in English for it to be heard and understood by all. We cannot, as caring citizens, sit and watch while guns are blazing and other sophisticated weaponry is being used to exterminate humanity. I am adding another voice to the voices crying out for peace. My wish is that the message reaches all corners of the world, especially countries that are torn by war. We all have to stand up and speak with one voice to say the guns should be silenced,” Nenungwi said.

The poet and musician is currently working on his third album, which he plans to release soon.
