The Economic Freedom Front (EFF) is deeply concerned about issues relating to service delivery around Makhado town.
There has been no street lights in most of the streets and one wonders what the money for services is used for. In Eltivillas Ext 1, people bought erven at hundreds of thousands in 2008 and there are just a few streets with lights and the rest have no lights installed. There are several cases of burglary that have been reported to the police and the EFF believes that the darkness that prevails during the night is contributing a lot. We believe that erven in any town should never be sold before the area is fully developed.
Makhado is the only town where people buy untarred erven without water meters connected to their yards. The municipality has been forced to turn a blind eye on the high installation of water tanks, which contradicts some by-laws, due to the fact this problem has been there for more than a decade and it is the municipality that has failed the people.
The District Mayor recently announced over the radio that the problem of water has been permanently solved. This is ironic, since water is not always available.
