Peace restored in AFM Church

News  Date: 23 January 2004

MAKWARELA – It seems as if the problems in the AFM Church in Makwarela may be solved. Last week it was reported that a group within the congregation wants Pastor Tshililo Netshifhefhe to be expelled for several reasons.

The group also accused him of running the church unprofessionally and insulting the church members. The other group is supporting the pastor and says he must continue with his work. Two weeks ago, the service was stopped and the police were called in to calm the situation down.

Last Sunday, the church was packed and the service was delayed, due to the fact that the regional committee was discussing the matter.

The regional chairperson of Zoutpansberg of the Apostolic Faith Mission, Dr Mackson Mahanzwana, told Mirror that it is true the service had been disrupted last week, after a concerned group wanted the pastor Tshililo Netshifhefhe to be deposed from his position.

He stated that the regional committee and the concern group against Pastor Netshifhefhe had agreed to stop the division, and the group also apologised for what had happened in the church.

"I think all problems are solved through our intervention as the regional committee. We are still pleading with our church members that if there are some problems within the church, please let us deal with them according with protocols and procedures.

"I believe that all members know about church bylaws, so please let us follow those laws carefully. We as a committee are going to monitoring the church as usual," said Dr Mahanzwana.
