Heroine Langalanga (20) was night crowned Miss Beit Bridge 2011 last Friday at a beauty contest held at the Holiday Inn Express Beit Bridge.
Langalanga, who is a Grade 11 pupil at a local Christian College, managed to snatch the title from six other participants who participated in a glamour and beauty extravaganza that attracted the who's who of the border town. She will represent Beit Bridge in the Miss Zimbabwe pageant to be held in Harare next year.
Nyasha Zidana (18) and Linda Moyo (17) were crowned first and second princess respectively. The event was spiced up by entertainment from various local musicians.
The excited Langalanga told Limpopo Mirror that she was happy to represent Beit Bridge, adding that she was looking forward to doing well at the national finals. She attributed her victory to confidence and determination.
“I want to bring a positive change in the modeling industry in my town and the country at large through initiating self-help and economic empowerment to programmes in society, especially those that benefit the underprivileged girl child. Modeling has always been my dream since childhood and I will stop at nothing to achieve my goals,” she said.
