DINDELA - Three days before Christmas, a rondavel of the Ndhukwani family in the rural area of Dindela in Venda was struck by lightning.
Winnie Ndhukwani (12) told Mirror that she and her elder sister, Calfonia (20), were sleeping when the incident occurred.
She stated that it was at midnight when the area was hit by a thunder- and lightningstorm. Her father, mother and three other children were sleeping in another hut at the time of the incident.
Immediately after she had woken up, she saw fire inside the house, and woke her sister. Both of them screamed for help, and Winnie then unlocked the door, which allowed them to escape.
“We are pleading for donations of foods and clothes from anybody who can help us,” said a distressed Winnie.
The community members of that village of Dindela were shocked about the incident. It was also announced that during the thunderstorm, two or more houses were struck by lightning.
Anyone who can help the Ndhukwani family can contact Elisabeth Ndhukwani at 083 421 4846.
