POLOKWANE – The PSL rookies, Highlandspark Silver Stars, donated league points to Moroka Swallows, following their 0-1 defeat at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday.

Swallows enjoyed ball possession for the better part of the game. This resulted in the home side conceding 11 corner kicks in quick succession. Jaconia Cibi, the former Black Leopards midfielder, cleared a sure goal when the Swallows' right flank, Lucas Sebona, caught the Stars' keeper off guard in the 11th minute. Cibi headed the ball away for a corner kick from the goal line. Two of Stars' key players, Stanely Kgatla and Oscar Ntwakgae, who for different reasons missed their Coca-cola Cup match against Supersport United, were in the starting line-up on Sunday.

Four players, Albert Kometsi and Lungisani Ndlela of Swallows, and Oscar Ntwakgae and Stanely Kgatla of Stars, were booked for various infringements. Silver Stars made two changes in the second half. Willem Jackson and Banda Lebese came on for Stanely Kgatla and Dingaan Masanabo respectively. Swallows were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute. Lucas Sebona picked the ball up from the corner spot and Alois Ngwerume easily scored with a header. Ngwerume was later warned with a card for a late tackle on Willem Jackson. The Swallows' marksman, Warren Lewis, was nominated the man of the match. He went home with a trophy and a cash award amounting to R1 000.
