Double Seven FC in horrific accident

THOHOYANDOU – The Vodacom Promotional League match between Kiwi Double Seven and Rabali Pull Together, scheduled for last Sunday, at the Rabali Stadium did not take place. The players of Double Seven were involved in an accident on their way to Rabali.

The accident occurred in Polokwane along the N1 road to Louis Trichardt.

According to the co-ordinator of the league, Mr Peter Mathega, the combi in which they were travelling, collided with a truck. All the occupants of the combi were taken to the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital, where most of them were treated and discharged, while a few who sustained serious injuries were admitted.

According to Mathega, Kiwi Double Seven will not play their matches tomorrow and next Monday, due to the unavailability of the players. The matches will be played on dates still to be decided by the league.

In other league matches Phalaborwa FC beat Bankuna Big XV 2-1. The match was played at Namakgale ground. Mighty Football Club were the hardest hit. They were brutally walloped 5-2 by the sky-rocketing Gezane Arsenal Football Club. Sisterpark beat Bosveld United Football Club 3-1 at Matamanyane ground.

Wilson Express gave The Dolphins Football Club a 3-0 drubbing at Xikukwani ground. South African Young Stars Football Club beat Chomachoma Football Club 2-0. The match was played at Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen.

Winnerspark Football Club consolidated its position on the log by beating TM Napoli 1-0 at the Bellevue ground. Winnerspark is still leading the pack with 37 points. Sporting FC drew 1-1 with Moria Sweepers. The match was played at the Seshego Stadium.
