The increase in activity on the internet has been quite phenomenal during the past few months and the newspaper's website clearly reflects this. The zoutnet.co.za site attracted an incredible 75 168 page views during November.
The website, which carries a combination of news from the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror newspapers, has shown a steady increase in internet traffic during the past year. During November a total of 15 227 user sessions were recorded. User sessions differ from page views in that the server tries to determine individual users, irrespective of the number of pages that they view. On average 509 user sessions were recorded every day.
The busiest day of the month was November 20 when 8 201 pages were viewed. On November 4 no less than 2 084 user sessions were recorded.
Surprisingly the most used operating system, was the Windows NT based platform. Just over 4 700 of the visitors still use Windows 98, while 811 use Windows 95 as operating system.
As far as browsers are concerned, the most popular choice is still Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5. Internet Explorer 6 has moved into the second position with Netscape's browsers ending in the fourth and fifth positions.
The website is available at www.zoutnet.co.za or at www.emirror.co.za.
