Two men suspected of planning a business robbery in Eltivillas have had the charges against them withdrawn.
Reuben Moloto (39) and Christopher Maleka, both from Polokwane, appeared in the Louis Trichardt Regional Court on Monday. Their co-accused, Tsepo Moepi (39) of Seshego and Alfred Nkuna (40) of Mamelodi, were, however, not that lucky.
All four the men appeared on a single count of the illegal possession of a firearm.
Their court case follows Moepi and Nkuna’s arrest in December 2010. According to information, the two were arrested after local police received a tip-off regarding a robbery that was being planned. When the police searched the vehicle that they were driving, they found two unlicensed 9mm pistols.
Following Moepi and Nkuna’s arrest, they implicated Moloto and Maleka, who were subsequently arrested.
On Monday, the State withdrew their case against Moloto and Maleka, due to a lack of physical evidence that links them to the case.
