Mongezi Bobe scored the winner two minutes from time, to hand Black Leopards a vital 1-0 victory over SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership match at the Giyani Stadium on Tuesday (13/3) afternoon.
It took until the 18th minute for the game’s first real chance. SuperSport’s Franklyn Cale was fouled by Leopards’ Samuel Mabunda. From the free kick, Cale hit a left-footed shot from outside the area which narrowly missed the target. In the 42nd minute, Leopards should have gone 1-0 up. Captain Mongezi Bobe crossed the ball from the left wing for Kingston Nkhatha, who had just come on moments earlier as a substitute, but the striker failed to capitalise from a great position when he headed the ball over the crossbar.
With six minutes left of regular time, Nkhatha could have put Leopards into the lead when, from the centre of the six-yard area, he missed with a header that went wide to the right. Another opportunity presented itself for Leopards two minutes later when Bobe missed a glorious chance inside the penalty area, seeing his weak shot go wide.
The missed chances were soon forgotten when Bobe received a cross from the left and coolly slotted home from the centre of the box with his left foot to make it 1-0 for Leopards with two minutes left.
The win for Leopards puts pressure on Jomo Cosmos and will help them climb off the foot of the league standings, temporarily at least. - BackpageTxt
