Vhembe senior traditional leader Vho Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli has promised the rural community of Malavuwe that their problems will soon receive attention from higher offices of government.

Mphaphuli was responding after the local traditional leader, chief Thusalushaka Mafenya Mphaphuli, had briefed him on the challenges facing his subjects.

At the top of the list was the poor tarred road that passes through the village which has been recently opened. This was during the recent visit by the senior traditional leader to the village. During the visit, Mphaphuli was briefed on the developments that took place in the village.

The highlight of the visit was a mini marula festival, where the chiefs and their subjects enjoyed the fruit of the marula.

They were entertained by traditional groups and well-known guitarist David Mmbi.

Mphaphuli said he had heard of the problems being faced by the people in the area. “Driving to this part of the country made me more aware of the problems being faced by my people. I have seen it with my own eyes. I have seen the bad state of the tarred road. My people have genuine grievances. This is the worst, shoddiest workmanship and I think the government owes us an explanation as to what happened,” he added.
