Mother and daughter raped

News  Date: 02 April 2012

Members of the Tshikwarani community in the Kutama area are still shocked, following a disturbing incident where a 49-year-old mother and her 16-year-old daughter were allegedly raped by two unknown men last Sunday.

The spokesperson for the Tshilwavhusiku police, Sgt Thilivhali Maloa, said that two unknown men gained entrance into the house through a door that was not locked and allegedly raped the woman and her daughter. "The men allegedly smeared a lotion on their hands before forcing themselves onto the mother and her daughter," she said. Maloa added that two counts of sexual assault had been opened with the police.

"The incident happened at 02:00," she said, adding that although the two men had not covered their faces, the victims were not able to identify them. The suspects produced a knife before allegedly raping the victims. "The mother was also stabbed in the arm during the incident," she said.

"Police investigations are still continuing," said Maloa. She warned members of the community against the two suspects. "Whoever sees them must just alert the police and not try to go anywhere near them, as they might be dangerous," warned Maloa.
