VALDEZIA - A 12-year-old boy is in custody for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl of Lwalani Section in Valdezia Village. The incident happened last week Friday night at around 22:00.

Insp Maano Sadiki of the Waterval SAPS indicated that the girl was asleep and in the company of her younger sister, when they suddenly heard a knock at the door. When she opened the door, she discovered that it was the suspect who was known to her as a friend.

The suspect allegedly asked the girl to accompany him to somewhere not far away from their home. The girl agreed to go with the suspect. On the way, the suspect allegedly grabbed the girl and forced her to the nearby bushes. He allegedly raped her and then disappeared.

The incident was reported to the police the following day and the suspect was arrested on the same day. He will appear in the magistrate's court today (Friday).
