THOHOYANDOU – The 23-year-old Univen student, Ernest Jele, will leave for Britain for a twenty-one days scholarship, awarded by The Abe Bailey Trust. He leaves for Britain today (29 November).
According to Univen spokesperson, Mbangiseni Masia, Jele, a third year Bachelor of Commerce student was selected amongst other best students at Univen. He was selected on the basis of his outstanding academic performanance, his involvement in community projects and his broad understanding of the developments in the country.
During his visit abroad he will interact with students from other institutions in and outside Britain.
Masia further said that the Abey Bailey Trust has been selecting students from Univen since 1994. Commenting on Jele's selection, Masia said it was not an easy selection, as there were a number of excellent contestants for the scholarship.
The University of Venda is amongst only sixteen Universities in the country which had students selected for this scholarship.
An excited Jele says that he was happy to have been offered the opportunity and vowed to represent the University of Venda well.
