THOHOYANDOU - Mrs Masindi Sadiki, a teacher at Tshilidzini Special School, recently received a certificate for being a lifetime achiever during the National Teacher Awards.

She told Mirror that to enter this National Teacher Awards in the category of Lifetime Achiever a person must have at least twenty years teaching experience. She holds a Masters Degree in Linguistics and has 26 years of teaching experience.

She was once a part-time lecturer at the University of Venda. She is a member of (Pan SALB) South African Language Board and Translation and Interpreting Services in South Africa. Mrs Sadiki further said that this programme was started by the Minister of Education Prof Kader Asmal to uplift the standard of education.

When Mirror asked her how she felt about her achievements she stated, "to me this is the beginning and I have been motivated by the awards. The door has been opened to start working. The awards are the lights to lead learners, educators and communities at large towards hard work. My message to other teachers is that the ultimate aim of education is productivity".
