MANUGANI - The schooling process has returned to normal at Tshivhidzo Masiagwala Secondary following the suspension of the principal.
The Regional Director of Education Mr M Mathivha confirmed that they have suspended Mr Godfrey Rambau, of Shayandima.
Mathivha said they served Rambau with a suspension letter last week following allegations of misuse of school funds.
There was no normal schooling at Masiagwala since late last year after the children boycotted classes while demanding that the department take steps against the principal.
This was after staff members at the school complained about the principal whom they claimed used school funds for his personal needs. The staff also complained to the SGB that the principal was making the running of the school to be difficult because there were no resources.
The worst moment was late last year when the principal allegedly advertised the position of deputy principal and did the short-listing without proper consultation.
It was alleged that the position was earmarked for a head of department at the same school who did not qualify for the position. The principal was also accused of hiring his close female friend as a secretary of the school. The secretary was relieved from her position this year. This was so because the school was struggling financially as a result of the none-payment of school funds by parents who withheld their monies as a form of protest against the alleged misconduct of the principal.
It was alleged that the principal bought computers, a video machine, a TV set and a photocopying machine that he kept at his home. The principal, who was acting as a treasurer of the school, failed to provide a financial report as requested by the SGB.
Two months before his suspension, parents had started paying school fees, which is a good sign for the troubled school.
Mathivha said Rambau would be suspended until investigations have been completed.
