TSHILWAVHUSIKU – In an effort to regain the lost and good relationship with community members of the Tshilwavhusiku SAPS, the Area Commissioner MJ Maepa appointed a new Station Manager at the Tshilwavhusiku Police station.

It is widely known in the Far North that the Tshilwavhusiku SAPS was involved in controversies surrounding the investigation of a number of cases reported at the station, more especially cases about alleged ritual murders occurring within the area of the station's jurisdiction.

According to a community leader, Mr Rufus Selepe, some Police Officers at the station only showed interest in cases that were opened against their friends and relatives. "The gates were always locked when we went to inquire about some of the cases that caused tension in the villages," he said.

The Area Commissioner introduced the new Station Commissioner, Capt SF Shirinda, and remarked that Police Officers at Tshilwavhusiku must work hand-in-hand with the new station manager so that together they could alleviate problems of crime in the communities they serve. Shirinda is well known for his clean work record at the Tshitale SAPS.

Maepa also appointed a new branch station commander, Capt Mabanganyi, who was previously attached to the Mara SAPS.
