RIVONI – Mrs Xingwavilani Martha Mabunda, a science teacher at Lemana High School, will accompany four female teachers from other provinces to Washington DC to a school known as Dunbar Senior High, to teach science for six weeks.

This invitation came after The Full Bright Educational and Professional Exchange Commission recognised her work and dedication towards teaching science and after looking at her achievements since she started working at the school in 1978.

Lemana High School is one of the schools that are situated at one of the most disadvantaged communities in the Limpopo Province. According to a spokesperson for the school, it was due to the commitment shown by staff members that the level of education is where it is today.

One of her achievements was an opportunity that the Department of Education gave to her, to go to England in 1987 to further her studies in science. This offer came about as a result of her ability to maintain a high percentage pass rate in science at the school over the years.
