The South African Police Service have issued a reward of R50 000 for any person who can provide information which will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the brutal killing of a female train driver in Makhado on 4 June.
The 48-year-old Ms Nare Mashamaite was possibly raped and then brutally murdered after she and a fellow female assistant driver stopped at the Makhado station to inspect the train for mechanical problems, after hearing a noise coming from the train.
Mashamaite and her fellow driver were inspecting the train, one on each side, when she was grabbed and overpowered by an unknown assailant. The other woman fled when she realised something was wrong and alerted the police. Upon arriving on the scene, police found Mashamaite’s body in some bushes not far from the train.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Lt Col Monica Nemavhola at Tel 082 451 7154.
